Signature Milk Shai — Milk-Based
Our signature preparation. A warming blend of black tea and traditional spices, brewed with milk and served sweet. Rich, comforting, and meant to be enjoyed slowly — this version reflects how shai is most often shared during long conversations and lingering moments, much like those experienced at our House of Sadah events.
Classic Shai — Black Tea
The same black tea and traditional spices, brewed in water and served sweet. Lighter and more aromatic, this version highlights the spices while offering a clean, grounding cup. Dairy free, making it a great alternative to our signature shai.
Both preparations use the same spice blend — the difference is in the brew.

House of Sadah can be found at select farmers markets and pop-ups, where shai is brewed slowly and shared one cup at a time during our Ethiopian tea events and shai gatherings. Past House of Sadah events include: Barton Creek Farmers Market - February 7 (9am - 1pm) and Barton Creek Farmers Market - February 21 (9am - 1pm). Upcoming events are to be determined.
Shai (pronounced shy or shah-hee) is the Amharic word for tea. In Ethiopia, it’s traditionally black tea with spices enjoyed sweet. At House of Sadah events, our signature preparation is inspired by this tradition, brewed with spices and milk or water. This reflects how shai is often shared during Ethiopian tea events and long conversations at shai gatherings.
Sadah is inspired by my mother’s name, Saada (pronounced sah-dah). It reflects the warmth, strength, and sense of home she created for everyone around her, much like the welcoming atmosphere at our House of Sadah events and Ethiopian tea events, where friends gather for shai gatherings.
